CTC Academy Launches English Version of Online Courses on Coral Restoration

Inspiring and training generations to care for coastal and marine ecosystems is at the heart of Coral Triangle Center’s (CTC) mission. As part of this commitment, CTC Academy recently launched the English versions of two online courses on coral reef restoration in July 2026, making essential knowledge and approaches more accessible to individuals and practitioners worldwide.
Developed for reef restoration practitioners, community members, reef managers, and students, these free self-paced courses provide foundational knowledge and practical approaches to support effective coral reef restoration initiatives.

The first, the Indonesia Coral Reef Restoration Course, was developed in collaboration with Mars Sustainable Solutions. It covers the principles and approaches of effective coral reef restoration planning and management using the MARRS method. Participants will learn how effective restoration programs are planned and managed, and how to apply these approaches to their own restoration initiatives.
The second, the Resilience-based Management in Coral Reef Restoration Program Course, introduces the principles of coral reef resilience and how they can support successful restoration and conservation efforts. The course provides participants with a foundation in resilience-based management approaches.

Both courses are available for free through CTC Academy. Participants can learn at their own pace, with each course estimated to take 12 hours to complete. Enrollment requires creating a CTC Academy account, and those who complete a course will receive a free e-certificate.
By expanding access to coral restoration education, CTC Academy hopes to support the development of knowledge and skills needed to protect and restore coral reef ecosystems.
