Prama Sanur Hotel Supports Mangrove Restoration in Nusa Lembongan

Thirty mangrove seedlings were planted in the Pangkung mangrove area of Nusa Lembongan on September 29, 2026, through sponsorship by Prama Sanur Hotel. The planting was carried out by Coral Triangle Center (CTC), with support from the local Gili Bhuana community group, as part of ongoing efforts to restore degraded mangrove habitats in the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area (MPA).

Prama Sanur Hotel sponsored the planting of 30 Rhizophora mangrove seedlings through CTC’s Adopt-a-Mangrove program. Although hotel representatives were unable to participate in person due to logistical challenges, the CTC team and Gili Bhuana carried out the planting on their behalf.

Alongside the planting, CTC worked with Gili Bhuana to prepare additional mangrove seedlings for future corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. This helps maintain a supply of seedlings for upcoming restoration efforts while supporting the community group’s continued involvement in mangrove conservation.

The initiative builds on years of mangrove rehabilitation in Nusa Lembongan, where coastal development and changing land-use patterns have affected mangrove ecosystems. Since its earlier restoration efforts, CTC and its partners have restored 7,965 square meters of degraded mangrove habitat, equivalent to 44.5% of Nusa Lembongan’s mangrove forest, by cultivating and planting 14,000 seedlings of 18 mangrove species.

Launched in September 2024, CTC’s Adopt-a-Mangrove program encourages businesses, communities, and individuals to participate in mangrove conservation through seedling cultivation, planting, and environmental education. With a target of planting 1,500 mangrove seedlings by 2027, the program continues to support local restoration efforts and the conservation of coastal ecosystems within the Nusa Penida MPA.
