Celebrating Earth Day with Eco Bazaar and Special Film Screening

On 26 April 2026, CTC’s Center for Marine Conservation in Sanur, Bali transformed into a lively gathering space for ocean advocates, families, and youth as Coral Triangle Center (CTC) hosted the Earth Day Sunday Market under the global theme Our Power, Our Planet. More than a celebration, the event served as a call to action that invited the public to reflect on the urgent need to protect our ocean while showcasing practical ways individuals and communities can contribute to marine conservation and sustainable living.

Throughout the day, visitors explored a vibrant sustainability bazaar featuring 11 curated eco conscious vendors selected for their commitment to environmentally responsible products and practices. From sustainable goods to ocean friendly lifestyle solutions, the bazaar highlighted how everyday choices can help reduce waste, protect marine ecosystems, and support responsible local businesses. With 127 participants joining across activities, the event created a welcoming space where conservation messages were shared through hands-on experiences, conversations, and community connections.

Education and inspiration were at the heart of the program. In collaboration with the Bali Youth Parliament for Water (BYPW), we hosted the Coral 101 talk show Coralight: Glow for the Sea, featuring CTC’s Monitoring and Program Support Officer, Cikal Qalnar. The session explored the importance of coral reefs, the threats they face, and the collective actions needed to protect them for future generations. Through the CMC Open House, visitors stepped inside our education and conservation hub to learn more about CTC’s programs, discover ways to get involved, and deepen their understanding of Bali’s role within the globally significant Coral Triangle region. Guests enjoyed hands-on learning through escape rooms, guided exhibition tours, board games, and interactive workshops.

A sunset yoga session invited participants to reconnect with nature and reflect on the link between personal wellbeing and planetary health, while the evening movie screening and interactive quiz brought the community together to learn, connect, and celebrate the ocean in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. We closed the day with a special film screening of Ocean with David Attenborough, narrated by David Attenborough and facilitated by the National Geographic Society, creating a powerful and reflective finale that inspired audiences to appreciate and protect the ocean.

The Earth Day Sunday Market strengthened public awareness of marine conservation and amplified the visibility of CTC’s work as a hub for environmental education and community engagement in Bali. By bringing together education, lifestyle, wellness, and community participation in one space, the event demonstrated how collective action, big or small, can help protect the ocean and inspire more people to become part of the solution.
