Inspiring Young Ocean Keepers: A New Batch of Young Learners Begin Their Learning Journey

A new batch of young learners began their learning journey with Max, Mindy, Octa and Friends as Coral Triangle Center (CTC) launched Batch 4 of Ocean Keeper Club (OKC) on August 22, 2026, opening its fourth year of youth marine education with an energetic first session titled “Mengenal Ekosistem Laut” (Exploring Marine Ecosystems).

Since its launch in 2022, the Ocean Keeper Club (OKC) has introduced students across Sanur to the wonders of the ocean through hands-on activities, interactive games, and discussions. The students explore marine ecosystems, learn about the challenges facing our oceans, and discover how they can play a role in protecting the marine environment.
Over the past four years, OKC has reached 2,875 participants from 23 schools, while additional non-regular sessions have engaged an additional 1,109 students.

The first session of Batch 4 welcomed 101 participants, including 88 students and 13 teachers. New participants were welcomed into the program through this year’s marine theme and introduced to its three beloved icons: Max, Mindy, and Octa.

This year also marks an exciting step forward for the program with the addition of SDN 3 Sanur and SDN 5 Sanur as new school partners. Their inclusion brings the current total to eight active partner schools for the upcoming year, providing opportunities for even more students to connect with and learn about the ocean.

As Ocean Keeper Club enters its fourth year, CTC looks forward to continuing this journey alongside students, teachers, and schools. By creating engaging opportunities to learn about and connect with the ocean, OKC hopes to inspire the next generation to become passionate and responsible ocean advocates.
