CTC Joins Marine Actions Expo 2026 to Advance Ocean Conservation and Blue Economy Dialogue

From April 24 to 26, 2026, the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) participated in the inaugural Marine Actions Expo (MAX) 2026, Indonesia’s first world-class marine exhibition, held at Balai Kartini, Jakarta. The three-day event brought together 145 exhibitors from government agencies, private industry, NGOs, and local communities to showcase the country’s maritime potential and strengthen collaboration under the Blue Economy framework. The expo attracted approximately 2,608 attendees.

CTC’s participation centered on three goals: raising awareness of its conservation programs, promoting the Green Fins Code of Conduct for sustainable diving and snorkeling operations, and strengthening its position within Indonesia’s national maritime network.

Throughout the event, CTC operated an exhibition booth, serving as an educational hub for visitors. The booth facilitated direct engagement with the public, highlighting CTC’s conservation work across the Coral Triangle and encouraging public participation in marine protection efforts.

On April 24, Marthen Welly, CTC’s Senior Marine Conservation Advisor, delivered a talk show session on the Main Stage of Kartika Expo, Balai Kartini, on the topic “Green Fins – Promoting Sustainable Marine Tourism Code of Conduct for Diving and Snorkeling Industry.” The session introduced the Green Fins initiative—a collaboration between The Reef-World Foundation and the UN Environment Program—to key industry stakeholders.

Marthen outlined the Green Fins Code of Conduct, which emphasizes a “no-touch” policy and the prevention of chemical runoff. He also walked the audience through the membership and certification process, which involves environmental assessments, staff training, and the development of custom action plans for dive operators. The session also highlighted the importance of balancing ecological responsibility with long-term economic benefits for the tourism industry.

CTC’s participation at MAX 2026 strengthened its visibility in Indonesia’s marine tourism and conservation sector, opening doors to future partnerships and collaborations in the Blue Economy space.
